2011年度国家科学技术奖评审工作已经结束,评审结果将提交国家科学技术奖励委员会审定。
现将评审通过的国家自然科学奖36项、国家技术发明奖通用项目41项(含2010年结转到今年的2项)和国家科技进步奖通用项目219项在科学技术部网站 (http://www.most.gov.cn)和国家科学技术奖励工作办公室网站(http://www.nosta.gov.cn)公布。

据科技部网站消息,国家重点基础研究发展计划(973计划)2011年度项目申报评审工作已经结束。为贯彻落实《国家中长期科学和技术发展规划纲要(2006-2020年)》,加强面向国家战略需求的基础研究,根据我国经济、社会及科技发展的需求和专家评审结果,经研究,决定批准“多时空脉冲强磁场成形制造基础研究”等94个项目立项(项目清单见附件)。
根据973计划管理安排,制造与工程科学领域11个项目于今年启动,其它项目将于2012年初启动实施

日前,人力资源和社会保障部、全国博士后管理委员会发布《博士后事业发展“十二五”规划》。规划提出,“十二五”期间,稳步扩大博士后研究人员招收规模,提高博士后研究人员在科研团队中的比例和贡献率,到2015年,年招收博士后研究人员达到1.7万人,比2010年提高60%左右。
规划指出,“十二五”期间,要坚持扩大规模和提高质量相统一,坚持培养和使用相结合,坚持流动站和工作站发展相协调,到2015年,年招收博士后研究人员达到1.7万人,占当年全国毕业博士总数的20%以上;重点高校和科研院所在引进教师和科研人员时具有博士后研究经历人员的比例达到30%。
进一步改革完善博士后制度。要进一步推动博士后工作分级管理和博士后管理创新试点。要加强对博士后研究人员的考核工作和博士后评估工作,提高博士后培养质量。要加强博士后研究人员与国家重大科技项目的结合,充分发挥博士后研究人员在科技创新中的作用。

据英国每日邮报报道,目前,英国最新研制一款智能聊天语言系统,可以赋予计算机类似人类的“思维”。该计算机系统能够让测试者无法辨识究竟是计算机还是人类,在印度古瓦哈提市召开的计算机科学节上,一款叫做“智能机器人”的软件系统能够让59.3%的测试者认为这并非是计算机,而是真实的人类,参与测试者人数为1334人。
智能机器人软件研发者罗洛-卡彭特说:“这款智能软件系统能够‘欺骗’50%以上的测试者,它已通过了‘图灵测试’。或许为研制新一代智能机器带来契机。”
据悉,测试者用4分钟观看这款软件与真人之间的聊天记录,从而分辨这是计算机聊天软件还是真人聊天。
卡彭特说:“智能机器人更像一个擅长对话的维基平台,每次人们与它进行聊天将表达不同的内容信息,换另一个人进行聊天时,它就会快速变换角色。它能够真实地模拟人类聊天,伴随着这项技术的完善,该技术或将更加智能化。”

Applications are invited for a 12-month postdoctoral position at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) in the area of theory and modelling of microfluidic devices and integrated optics.
The position is part of a wider BBSRC funded programme of research involving teams in the ORC (Dr T. Melvin and Dr P. Horak) and the School of Chemistry (Professor T. Brown), together with Cambridge University and Chalmers, Sweden, with the aim to detect cytosine methylation on single DNA molecules.
The post holder will work on theory and numerical modelling of the dynamics of DNA strands flowing in microfluidic channels and of their optical detection using integrated optical microresonators. The results of these investigations will informthe design of a device which will subsequently be fabricated and mplemented.
We are looking for applicants with strong analytical skills and experience in numerical and analytical modelling, who areMinterested in joining a multidisciplinary team at the engineering– physical sciences – biological sciences interface.Ideally, applicants should have experience in microfluidics,and/or microoptics modelling. Knowledge of numerical software,packages (Comsol, Matlab, fluid dynamics packages) would also,be desirable.
Applicants with a PhD in physics, applied mathematics,engineering or a related field with good communication skills and,the ability to work independently as well as part of a team should apply. The goal of this conference is to provide a platform for bringing the world's leading
experts to BICMR to present recent advances and discuss future directions in the broad area of computational and applied mathematics.
It will also provide an opportunity for junior to mid-career researchers to present their works through invited talks. The conference will aim to promote communications and collaborations among participants in the future. The theme of the conference will be but not limited to the following topics: multi-scale and stochastic modeling and computation with applications to fluids, material science and soft condensed matter, chemistry, biology,imaging science and data analysis, PDE and applied analysis. All these topics present challenges as well as excellent research opportunities to mathematicians.

Tsinghua University Shiing-Shen Chern Distinguished Lecture is established in 2011by Mathematical Sciences Center, Tsinghua University to honor the fundamental contributions of Shiing-Shen Chern to differential geometry. The lectureship is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding scholarly contributions to the advancement of geometry. The recipient will deliver a public lecture at Tsinghua University. The award includes round-trip travel to Beijing, a citation and a cash prize.

Abstract: S. S. Chern was a leader of global differential geometry in the 20th century.
Since 1950 the subject has seen dramatic developments particularly through the
introduction of deep analytic methods. In the first lecture we will highlight some of the main problems of differential geometry. In the second lecture we will survey some of the deep problems which have been solved by variational techniques, and we will briefly describe some of the important geometric variational problems including the Plateau problem and the Yamabe problem. In the third lecture we will introduce geometric flows including the Ricci flow and survey some of the results achieved by flow methods.
The first lecture is intended for a general audience with little mathematical training.
The second and third should be accessible to a general mathematical audience including advanced undergraduate math majors.

Richard M. Schoen教授1950年10月23日出生于美国俄亥俄州的Fort Recovery市。他于1977年从斯坦福大学获得博士学位,现在是该校的Anne T.和Robert M. Introduction of Speaker
Professor Richard M. Schoen was born on October 23, 1950 in Fort Recovery, Ohio.He received his PhD in 1977 from Stanford University where he is currently the Anne T.and Robert M. Bass Professor of Humanities and Sciences.Professor Schoen is a world leading expert in differential geometry and general relativity.In 1979, together with Shing-Tung Yau, he proved the fundamental positive mass theorem in general relativity. In 1984, he obtained a complete solution to the Yamabe problem on compact manifolds. This work combined new techniques with ideas developed in earlier work with Yau, and partial results by Thierry Aubin and Neil Trudinger. More recently, using Hamilton's Ricci flow, Simon Brendle and Richard Schoen in 2007 proved the famous 1/4-pinching differentiable sphere theorem, a fundamental result in the study of manifolds of positive sectional curvature which was open for about 50 years. Professor Schoen received a MacArthur Fellowship in 1983, the Bocher Memorial Prize in 1989, and won a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1996. He is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
