2012年8月30日至9月2日,中国数学会主办、西北大学承办的中国数学会2012学术年会在西北大学召开。王诗窚院士、文兰院士、石钟慈院士、崔俊芝院士、田刚院士、席南华院士、徐宗本院士出席会议,国内外近200位数学家参会,西北大学校长方光华到会祝贺。
方光华在致辞中对与会专家表示欢迎,并简要介绍了西北大学的发展历史和学科现状,希望西北大学数学学科能够借此机会与国内外专家加强学术交流与合作,推动学科发展,提高人才培养质量。
会上,西安交通大学徐宗本教授作了题为《关于稀疏信息处理的几个理论问题》的报告,北京大学宗传明教授作了题为《神秘的四面体》的报告,复旦大学郭坤宇教授作了题为《Operator theory on the Bergman Space》的报告。随后,分析组、应用数学组及代数、数论、拓扑、几何各组分别共进行了30场分组报告。
会议期间,王诗窚、文兰、石钟慈、崔俊芝、田刚等10位数学家还到陕西师范大学、西北工业大学、西安交通大学、西北大学等院校,分别作了公开演讲。
据悉,数学学术年会是中国数学界的盛会,在国内外享有盛誉。本届年会会场气氛热烈,学术交流深入,整场会议的学术交流涉及数学学科的各个领域,展示了数学学科的最新研究成果和中国数学未来发展前景。西北大学校领导专门看望了参会专家,并与7位院士进行了深入沟通、交流,与会代表对西北大学的精心组织,周密安排,热情服务给予了高度评价。

8月20日至22日,由中国科学技术大学数学科学学院承办的第十二届中国工业与应用数学大会在安徽合肥成功举行。 我校党委书记许武出席开幕式并致欢迎词。学会理事长郭雷院士、 学会荣誉理事长李大潜院士、我校数学科学学院院长马志明院士分别在开幕式讲话。
本次大会聚集了来自全国各地125所单位的300多位专家学者与会,其中包括6位中国科学院院士,是中国工业与应用数学学会有史以来规模最大、与会人员最多的盛会之一。
本次大会按照国际工业与应用数学大会的模式开展。大会围绕“中国工业与应用数学实质发展”的主题,以多种形式进行了广泛的交流研讨。大会还颁发苏步青应用数 学奖与优秀青年学者奖。苏步青应用数学奖获得者与6位受邀嘉宾分别做了获奖报告与特邀报告,四位优秀青年学者奖获得者也做了精彩的学术报告。会议还听取了 四场分组报告与十二场小型专题研讨会的127位专家的报告,举行了具有特色的圆桌会议。
本次会议会员代表大会成功选举了第六届理事会、常务理事会以及理事会领导。郭雷院士继续担任新一届理事会理事长。
三天的会议,各位专家学者展现出卓越的智慧,碰撞出思想的火花,取得了丰硕成果。大会真正体现了大力推动与发展交叉科学与应用数学的紧密结合,牢固基础研究与应用研究融合的宗旨。大会在圆满完成各项议程后胜利闭幕。
中国工业与应用数学大会是国内最高水平的工业与应用数学大会。会议每两年举办一届。大会旨在交流应用数学的研究成果,并结合工业产业中急需解决的关键问题和难点问题,展开广泛的学术交流和讨论。

第十四届中国科协年会9月8日在河北省会石家庄开幕。开幕式上,第五届周光召基金会科技奖和第十五届中国科协“求是杰出青年奖”揭晓。
颁奖仪式上,周光召基金会奖励顾问委员会代主席徐冠华,公布获得第五届周光召基金会科技奖的人员名单。中科院上海应用物理研究所研究员徐洪杰领导的上海光源科技团队、汉王公司高级工程师黄磊博士分别获得“应用科学奖”,北京生命科学研究所研究员李文辉获得“杰出青年基础科学奖”。
中国科协“求是杰出青年奖”颁奖典礼亦同日举行。全国人大常委会副委员长、中国科协主席韩启德,为王东等15位获得第十五届中国科协“求是杰出青年实用工程奖”的科技工作者颁奖;中共中央政治局委员、全国人大常委会副委员长王兆国,为于敦波等10位科技工作者颁发第十五届中国科协“求是杰出青年成果转化奖”。
周光召基金会是由钟健国先生及其家属捐资,于2006年6月15日在香港设立。周光召为基金会理事会永久名誉主席兼基金会奖励顾问委员会主席。该奖项每年颁奖一次,主要奖励对中国有杰出贡献的科技人员。
“求是杰出青年奖”包括实用工程奖和成果转化奖两项,经周光召院士和查济民先生共同提议,由中国科学技术协会于1998年成立,至今已成功举办14届,共评选出277名获奖者。

扶持国内人才的“万人计划”目前已开始实施。昨日(9月2日),人社部副部长王晓初在京向南都记者证实,“万人计划”将以更大力度支持高端人才国产化。
“万人计划”针对国内的专家学者,而非留学人员。据中组部会同有关部委制定的实施方案,“万人计划”将高层次地覆盖国内自然科学和人文社科两大领域、创新和创业两大类型的一流人才,意在通过经费支持和政策保障,支持一批拔尖人才,培养一批领军人才,造就一批杰出人才。
据王晓初透露,在资金、政策等扶持力度上,“万人计划”规模则更为庞大。“主要是因为国内人才、专家更多”,王晓初解释。

国务院新闻办公室今日(9月6日)举行发布会,请教育部部长袁贵仁介绍《国家中长期教育改革和发展规划纲要(2010-2020年)》颁布实施两年来教育改革发展情况。袁贵仁其间就“奥数热”等现象答记者问时表示,“这件事情涉及到中小学择校问题,我们认为解决这个问题的根本出路在于实现教育均衡发展。”
袁贵仁就“奥数热”发表观点时指出,一是从根本上取消以奥数或者别的竞赛作为入学条件,二是禁止升学与收费挂钩。长远的,就是学校要相对均衡。
袁贵仁称,“这件事情涉及到中小学择校问题。”按照现在素质教育的要求,小学入学时不需要考试,小学升初中也是就近免试。但是由于学校之间确实有一定的差距,因此就产生了择校问题。
“这个问题在大城市比较突出。根本原因是义务教育发展不均衡,优质教育资源不足所形成的。”袁贵仁解读,近年来针对这个问题,通过加强薄弱学校改造,通过县域内教师校长合理流动、将优质高中生资源分布到区域内,并且推动质量化办学,扩大优质教育资源等办法,在一些地方取得了明显成效。
“但应当说,在有些地方尚没有根本好转。”袁贵仁强调。“我们认为解决这个问题的根本出路在于实现教育均衡发展,特别是国务院前几天刚刚出台了推进义务教育均衡发展的意见,对均衡发展做了全面部署。”
一是要推进学校标准化建设,改造薄弱学校,使每一所学校都能达到国家办学标准,成为合格学校。
二是均衡配置校舍、图书、仪器等办学资源,合理配置教师资源,实现区域内公办学校教师校长合理流动。所谓不均衡,就是学校的办学条件,尤其是师资、校长水平可能有所区别。
三是扩大优质教育资源覆盖面,实施学区化管理,鼓励集团化办学。优质学校通过合作办学,把相关学校办在一起,统一备课统一教学,以此扩大资源。此外,利用现代化信息手段,使不同学校同时接受优秀老师的课程教学,发挥优质学校辐射带动作用,提升各个学校教育教学整体水平。
四是办好一批优质民办学校,为家长提供多样化的选择,满足家长和学生的多样性需求。
五是规范办学行为,落实好免费就近入学政策,严格禁止以奥数成绩等特长和收取费用等办法作为义务教育阶段升学与入学的依据。

- 摘要
2012年度北京大学应用数学暑期学校已圆满结束。本次活动自7月9日开始,至8月24日结束。学员以北京大学为主体,还有来自清华大学、中国科学院、北京师范大学、山东大学、厦门大学、新加坡国立大学等多所高等院校的研究生、博士生以及青年教师,正式注册学员80名,旁听生20名。
本次暑期学校仍以突出交叉学科为主流,在课程设置上以计算科学为根本,结合了物理、材料、力学等学科的研究需求。今年共开设六门课程,分别为:钱铁铮教授主讲的统计物理,林霖博士和鲁剑锋博士主讲的量子力学,林治武教授主讲的Stability theory in Plasma Physics,Andrew Stuart 教授主讲的贝叶斯反演和数据同化,Jiahong Wu教授主讲的流体力学方程,以及Ragnar Winther教授主讲的Finite Element Exterior Calculus and related topics。主讲教授均为交叉学科领域的活跃学者,数学功底深厚,有着较强的实践经验。许多学员反映各位教授讲课框架感清晰,层次分明,讲解透彻,能在短的时间里向学生用合理的方法传授大量的知识,感觉自己获益匪浅。
暑期学校是一项青年研究人才培养项目。于2002年夏季正式启动,至今已成功举办十一期。暑期学校带来了前沿的课程,以及海外学者前沿思维方式的引导,使学员学会用交叉科学和应用数学的眼光来看问题,为他们将来的科研道路提供了有益的指引。此次暑期学校受到国家自然科学基金委、北京大学研究生院和北京国际数学研究中心的资助和支持。

今年7月16-20日,计算科学国际学术研讨会在上海师范大学举行本次会议由上海师范大学、上海大学和中山大学共同发起和资助,由上海师范大学和上海大学共同主办。 来自中国、美国、英国、法国、加拿大、意大利、西班牙、爱尔兰、瑞士、奥地利、澳大利亚、韩国和新加坡等十多个国家的150余名专家学者出席了这次盛会。
本次会议旨在通过学术交流,进一步加强科学计算领域知名专家的联系与合作,进一步提高我校乃至全国科学计算的学术水平,同时为年轻学者提供开阔视野,了解科学计算领域最新优秀科研成果的机会。会议主要内容涉及到数学物理问题的差分方法,有限元方法和谱方法,数值逼近、数值代数和计算几何学,高维和多尺度系统的并行算法和迭代算法,非线性问题的算法及分析,随机方程的数值方法与分析,以及流体力学、量子力学、生物学和材料科学等领域中的科学计算方法。这次会议邀请了60多位国内外著名的计算科学专家分别作了40分钟的学术报告, 体现了计算科学众多领域的国际水平。参加会议并作报告的有12位中外院士,他们分别是:中国科学院院士石钟慈研究员、林群研究员、李大潜教授、鄂维南教授和袁亚湘研究员,中国工程院院士崔俊芝研究员,加拿大皇家科学院RoderickWong院士,英国爱丁堡皇家学会Brian Sleeman院士和Mark Ainsworth院士, 欧洲科学院Alfio Quarteroni院士和Yvon Maday院士及韩国科学与工程院Jin Ho Kwak院士。出席会议并作报告的还有我国老一辈著名数学家、国内著名中青年专家和来自国外的著名计算科学家。
本次会议欣逢著名计算数学家郭本瑜教授七十华诞。中国计算数学学会石钟慈理事长、上海师范大学张民选校长和上海大学罗宏杰校长在开幕式上热烈祝贺本次学术研讨会的顺利召开,高度评价郭本瑜教授对中国计算数学的贡献,并诚挚祝愿他生日快乐。

日前,北大数学科学学院寇星昌校友荣获2012年COPSS会长奖。该奖项设立于1976年,从1979年开始颁发,由美国统计学会、数理统计学会、美东及美西计量协会及加拿大统计学会等五个统计学会会长组成的委员会(Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies,简称「COPSS」,中文译为考普斯)提名颁奖,每年只颁奖给一位四十岁以下的统计学最杰出学者,被誉为统计学界的“菲尔兹奖”。
寇星昌校友于1993 年进入北京大学数学系读本科,1997年赴美国斯坦福大学攻读博士学位,2001年到哈佛大学统计系任教,2008年晋升为哈佛大学统计系正教授,时年33岁。

A Workshop on Image processing and inverse problems will be held at Fuzhou-Greenwich R&D Center for Applied Computing,College of Mathematics and Computer Science, Fuzhou University, Fujian, China, from Dec.14 to 16, 2012.
The theme of the workshop concerns all aspects of image proce-ssing and related mathematical theory and methods, including image denoising, segmentation, analysis, recognition, video compression, parallel processing, and their industrial appli-cations. The related mathematics includes wavelet, fractal,partial differentiation equations and inverse problems. The three day workshop involves invited speakers from academia and industries as well as short presentations fromresearch students. State-of-the-art of image processing technologies will be disseminated. After the meeting, some authors will be invited to submit journal articles for journal publication with the Journal of Algorithms and Computational Technology,published by Multi-Science Publisher.
