One-year postdoctoral position at the Institute of Mathematics, Polish Academy of Sciences (location is Sopot), is available under the supervision of Professor Karolina Kropielnicka: The subject preferably will be focussed around splitting methods with unbounded and/or time dependant operators (in the general setting of Banach spaces). In this case  expertise in any of geometric numerical integration, functional analysis and/or semigroups is a great plus but, needless to say, a great deal can be learnt on the job. Professor Karolina Kropielnicka is also open to other topics in computational mathematics of dispersive equations especially if they appear in quantum mechanics. 

Salary: The salary is about 6000PL/month and 13 months per year (therefore, in average, 6500PL/month), with guaranteed national health insurance. 

Living cost: One can rent a studio apartment in the well connected part of the city for about 2000-2500PLN/month (includes utilities costs such as electricity, water, etc). One can also rent a room+bathroom in so called 'assistant hotels' where the kitchen is shared for 1250PLN/month (with no additional costs). 

Travel money: We have a decent amount of travel money which could help the postdoctoral researcher to present her/his results and build the network. The housing costs depend on preferences. 

Starting date: We can open the position as soon as in October 2023, but if the candidate fits the project and both we decide to collaborate we can wait for the suitable moment to start the contract.

Employment: Formally the postdoctoral researcher would be employed  at the University of Gdańsk (but physically work with Professor Karolina Kropielnicka at the Institute of Mathematics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Sopot)
