1.前言

Preface

The Eighth National Conference on Computational Mathematics was held at Sichuan University from October 25 to 29, 2007. About 400 researchers attended the conference, exchanging ideas and introducing their most recent work. Plenary addresses were given by eleven leading computational mathematicians. Conference sessions covered such diverse topics in computational mathematics as numerical solutions of PDEs and appli-cations, computational fluid dynamics, numerical linear algebra, mathematical modeling, multigrid and domain decomposition, industrial mathematics and applications. The in-sightful presentations and lively discussions made the conference an outstanding suc-cess.

This special issue brings together fifteen papers presented at the conference.
All the papers were peer-reviewed in order to comply with the standards of Science in China Series A: Mathematics.

We would like to thank all of the authors for their submissions and the referees for their generous help with the difficult task of carefully evaluating the manuscripts. We also wish to express our appreciation to Science in China Press for publishing these significant research results. We sincerely hope that this special issue will promote further innova-tions and developments in the field of computational mathematics.
