毕业于中科院数学院的牛津大学教授陈贵强, 毕业于北京大学的香港浸会大学教授汤涛，于最近获美国工业与应用数学学会（Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics，SIAM）推荐，当选「2012年美国工业与应用数学学会院士」. SIAM于2012年3月30日日公布评选结果。今年共有三十五位学者及专业人士获选为SIAM Fellow。本年度当选的人士将于七月份在美国明尼苏达州举行的SIAM年会上获颁授殊荣。

陈教授的获选赞词为:"For contributions to the mathematical analysis of PDEs, fluid mechanics, hyperbolic systems of conservation laws, and shock waves."

汤教授的获选赞词为:"For contributions to computational fluid dynamics andin particular, development of adaptive algorithms."
