Abstract
In this short course, we give an introduction to the study of the so-called hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin(HDG) methods for the partial differential equations(PDEs). These methods have the versatility of the DG methods for handling a wide variety of PDEs and for producing high-order accurate approximations in unstructured meshes. The HDG methods, however, were especially devised to render their implementability very efficient, especially for high-degree polynomial approximations. They turned out to be more accurate than all previously known DG methods for elliptic problems.
