The purpose of Hong Kong Mathematical Society Award for Young Scholars is to recognize outstanding achievements of young scholars who are working in the institutions in Hong Kong not exceeding the age of 45 in the fields of pure and applied mathematics, and statistics. All submissions will go through a formal evaluation process by a panel of established scholars.
Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
- Significance of results
- Originality of work
Eligible candidates for the Award are full time faculty members working in the institutions in Hong Kong not exceeding the age of 45 on January 1st of the year of award with the major work done in Hong Kong in the fields of pure and applied mathematics and statistics.
The candidates should submit a statement describing the research, and up to three representative articles. In principle, the representative articles should have been published or accepted by referred journals at the time of submission. The candidates should arrange three reference letters to be sent to HKMS at taoluo@cityu.edu.hk directly by referees.
The selection committee consists of two to three members at large of HKMS and two external members.
Submissions must be received no later than 31 January 2019 to be considered for the 2019 Award.
